Blair Witch

Maryland is a state of the United States. One of the original 13 states, it lies at the center of the Eastern Seaboard, amid the great commercial and population complex that stretches from Maine to Virginia. Maryland's largest city is Baltimore, and its capital is Annapolis.

History[]

Before the foundation of Maryland, the land was inhabited by indigenous tribes such as the Nanticoke. George Calvert, 1st Baron of Baltimore secured the land that would become Maryland. After Calvert died in 1632, his son Cecil inherit the proprietorship of Maryland.

In 1634, the town of Blair was founded to protect Baltimore from attack by western approaching Indians. Blair was abandoned in 1786 after it was cursed by the Blair Witch. Since then, there have been a large number of disturbing incidents in and around the Burkittsville area.

In 1921, the gallows was used to execute at least one prisoner of the state. This would be the last instance of the use of the gallows until Rustin Parr's execution in 1941.
